So we are finally live! It has been a lot of hard work, a major eye opener and venture into the unknown, but as things have come together I feel certain I have taken the right path.

"Most kids and young adults equate success in life to money earned and objects owned. I wish I could explain to my younger self that there is so much more to it..."

Working for myself has always been my goal but my incentives as a youngster was, perhaps, more financially motivated. Most kids and young adults equate success in life to money earned and objects owned. I wish I could explain to my younger self that there is so much more to it, so that maybe this self employment idea could have kicked off much earlier. The more time I invest in to my business, the more confident I am that I have made the right decision for not only my own life, but that of those around me.

Over the past few years I began to feel with increasing intensity that life was not as exciting or fulfilling as I felt it should be. Working 9-5 day in and day out in front of a computer screen may be ideal for some but for me it wasn't the place I truly wanted to be or the life I wanted to live. In an ironic turn of good fortune, circumstances changed and I was given the shove to move in another direction. The day I realised that there is so much opportunity if you are willing to have a go was one of the best ever, it was like getting clubbed over the head and awakening as a different person. I have always been very aware of the importance of living responsibly on this planet, but it is only in latter years I have learned that being green and eco-friendly is only part of the deal; whilst very important for the external environment, I believe your internal mindset also needs to be reassessed to make the differences we want to see in the world around us. So I began to see the world in a different light; whereas before I might have filled my life with objects and purchases of my own appeal, I now really only buy items that give me true joy or serve real purpose. This didn't mean I would exclude things from my life, quite the opposite, it meant that when I did bring things into my home or life they would be that bit more meaningful.

"...the name is odd. Is it a building complex? Maybe an orange fruit based nutrition drink?"

As this drive to reduce clutter grew and grew in me, I began to think about opportunities to bring this lifestyle to others. There are plenty of people offering advice on living a green life, living in a minimalist home, and different ways of 'being the best you'; I figured they have that down; I may not be an expert like some but I do believe I can provide products that relate to and support those lifestyles. That is where Orange Complex was born. "Orange Complex... the name is odd.... Is it a building complex? Maybe an orange fruit based vitamin drink?" Not close.

The "Complex" portion of the name represents the way I feel peoples lives are shifting. Technology has become so advanced that modern day lives are bombarded with more info and new products every day. For me, this leap in technology has made parts of our lives more manageable but, in general, has caused us to become more overwhelmed, making our lives more complex and less meaningful to a point.

"Orange" is not only my favourite colour but it is the warning colour that signifies to people to prepare for impact; an incoming storm, danger. The name Orange Complex is representative of the company's goal: to bring products to the fore that will aid in creating a life with less stress, less clutter, less throwaway items and bring in more nature, more meaning, more soul.

I am focusing on making less impact on the planet and more impact on my life, all of which the company is hoping to help you with also. I would personally like to welcome you to the store and if at any point you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at

Have a good one,
